Contractor Formulas
SHOVELS_CONTRACTOR and SHOVELS_CONTRACTOR_ID both take a name of at least 3 characters and a 2-letter state code. The state is required because businesses in different states often share a name.
SHOVELS_CONTRACTOR_ID returns an ID only for an exact name match. The comparison ignores upper and lower case, punctuation, and company suffixes such as Inc, LLC, and Corp. When several contractor records have exactly that name, it returns the ID of the record with the most permits. When only similar names exist, the error names the closest contractor and its ID.
See How do I look up contractors by name? for the columns SHOVELS_CONTRACTOR returns.
Location Formulas
SHOVELS_COUNTY takes a county name, a comma, and a state code, such as "Harris, TX". The word “County” is optional. The state is optional too, but a county name that exists in several states returns an error that asks for the state.
SHOVELS_ADDRESS takes a street address that starts with the house number, such as "3500 Gaston Ave, Dallas, TX". City and state make the match more precise, and the ZIP code is optional. The formula returns the geo_id of the first address found.
SHOVELS_COUNTY and SHOVELS_ADDRESS spend no credits.
